I’ve always been inspired by landscapes and the people traversing them—whether along highways, rural roads, meandering pathways in fields, or ascending hills.
In 2022, as we journeyed frequently between South Africa and Ireland, the concept of home became especially poignant—a sanctuary offering shelter and a place to rest from life’s storms. Home is where laughter with loved ones fills the air or where one finds solace in quiet solitude.
My recent works arise from our last extensive road trip, during which we navigated dusty, rutted roads through parts of the Natal Midlands, meandering along the Lions River, Kamberg, and the Maloti Mountains.
As villages and modest homes appeared on the horizons amidst open fields and sweeping valleys, I reflected on the simple joys of life: endless, unfenced spaces, the beauty of simplicity and community, and the delightful presence of dogs, chickens, goats, and cattle. All these moments occur beneath vast, ever-changing skies, where free-flying birds seem, like me, to be migrating between different interpretations of home.
All the original artworks have been sold; however, archival prints are available on order. Please feel free to get in touch.
